The Immersion Update
Hey Folks!
The wind howls, jet engines are roaring at full speed, and the mocking bleeps from marauder bots can be heard in the distance. Sounds are fully implemented, adding a whole new feel to the game experience. On top of the animations added last week and the effects being implemented along the way, our little project is finally reaching maturity.
For the polishing phase we still had some ambitious ideas. First of, the menu screen needs some flashy art to draw players in. Same for UI visuals, which needed some optimization in both aesthetics and format.
We expect more animations to show, now that the ships rig is done, we should have moving propellers, shaking engine-parts and an anchor swinging from side to side. This will most probably be featured in next week's build.
Effects are being fine-tuned and added to all suitable actions and events. Before, the enemy ship would just vanish, now, shooting it three times with some scrap balls will result in a satisfying explosion sound and fire erupting from its deck.
For extra immersion, bombs and explosion will make make the screen shake violently as well as give your controller a rumble. Due to the new Input System from Unity, adding the controller vibration was a piece of cake!
Apart from making our work stand out with flashy effects and smooth visuals, we try and take advantage of these two weeks to eliminate some bugs and discrepancies. Such as the ammo spawn mechanic spawning infinite bullets, after a fix preventing them to spawn none (oops).
Thanks for reading up and do enjoy the clip of the rig below!
See ya mateys!
